Angie Bowie tells it like it was...

Angie Bowie has been reviled so much over the years about her time with David. And while things eventually fell apart, she was hiding in the shadows from the wings while the light on the stage grew brighter and brighter, almost to the point of blinding. People tend to vilify her on levels that she's just not guilty of. We all have to remember that there was a time where David really loved her. She gave birth to his first child, the wonderful Duncan Haywood "Zowie" Jones, now a star in his own right as one of the best up-and-coming directors out therehp but it's I love this book because it's a no-holds-barred, brave and (In my humble opinion), brutally honest. It's extremely well-written and examines the other half of David Bowie that most people would never be privy to. Give this one a try. I have a feeling that you'll walk away from this book feeling a lot different about Angie Bowie. Well done girl!

David Bowie, bad choice for a wife!

I liked this book better than her others although it seems Angie is the authority on just about everything, which makes me automatically dislike her. She acts as though she was the brains behind David's whole life and that without her David wouldn't have been the icon he became!

Gender Bender Love Story

A real page turner. High spirited Angela Bowie has a way with words and is a gifted story teller. This book does not rely on casual name dropping, but is full of twist turns, tales of intrigue, colors, sounds and sensations. She does not portray herself as a hero, but as a woman navigating her way through turbulent and exciting times, and embracing a life of promoting pop icon David Bowie, while shunning societal norms. She is witty, intelligent, and deeply introspective. This book is reminiscent of Pamela Des Barres' I'm With the Band, but instead of being a celebration of sexual worship of the macho rock God, is the story of a woman fighting for her own survival while helping her man, David Bowie reach the heights of stardom. This book is highly relevant to the issues of today with its frank treatment of her open marriage, bisexuality, and androgyny, and her powerful influence over David Bowie's early image and career. In the end she expresses some regret over not having had a conventional marriage, and her rejection of motherhood that resulted in estrangement from her son. Still, had she lived a "normal" life, she would not have such an exciting story to tell.
