Just what you need for these tests

I would recommend that you high light all the answers, no use memorizing or reading stuff that is wrong. I read it all and picked out the words and flunked my first test, never again. Only read the write answers. Only thing is people like taking the tests and seeing what they do on it, not me! I have a hard time studying and remembering as it is, so I will highlight all the answers. Good book thro.

About the Author
Jerry Braza, Ph.D. is a mentor and Dharma teacher in the lineage of Thich Nhat Hanh and Professor Emeritus of Health Education at Western Oregon University. He conducts meditation retreats and mindfulness-based training programs for a variety of spiritual and secular groups. He is cofounder of the humanitarian organization the Forgotten People Foundation, supporting service learning projects for disadvantaged groups living in Vietnam. His book Moment by Moment: The Art and Practice of Mindfulness was published by Tuttle Publishing in 1997. His three-word philosophy frames his life: mindfulness, love and service.

A Terrific Manual for My Healthy Relationships Class!

I waited a few terms to see if the outcomes were consistent and to get student feedback, and after three terms of use, I think its safe to say, this book is applicable, appealing, and awesome for anyone of critical thinking age.

This past term students in my relationships course did a 1 hour and 50 minute presentation using Seeds of Love and the entire class was so involved, interested, and engaged, I let them go way over their 45 minute time limit. Not one complaint, instead there were nods and smiles of gratitude and approval for making the exception.

Of the 7 different books I use in a variety of ways, Watering the Seeds of Love consistently gets the best reviews and self reflective conversations going. The quality of the projects that students are able to come up with exceed all expectations and best of all, they really enjoy reading the book. The chapters are relate-able with very easy practices for each concept. The metaphor is both beautiful and tangible. Students reported, "Dr. Braza does a really good job at explaining what goes on in an individual's head in a simple manner. And basically, people need to spend more time in the present moment as this is really the only time when someone can truly experience or receive love. We "love" the acronym W.I.N."

I think when a book speaks to and appeals to college students in a way that changes attitude, knowledge, skills and behavior around love, life, and relationships...it must be good.

There are so many different ways for me to use this book both personally and professionally. I am grateful for the the writing, meaning, and moment.

A good book! Be prepared to think.

This book is amazing if you are interested in the Buddhist way of thinking about life with love as s central theme. It is not easy or a fast read because the concepts are presented in a way that is do different from the way we usually process emotions and thoughts that I have had to read a bit - reflect and re read to see whether I really could move out of my every day mind set and absorb the others message. The writing is well done and beautiful. If only we could have a world aspire to the level of depth that these concepts suggest I think there would be a lot less suffering in the realm that we have some control to change.

Seeds of Love is a synopsis of the wisdom of Buddhism, boiled down to the most critical elements in bite size easily digestible chunks, of how to begin the journey into living mindfully and more peacefully with oneself and others. However, don't be fooled into thinking that bite sized means lacking depth, for the shared wisdom and the grace in the delivery means readers should read this book at least three times to get each nugget for living with compassion, joy, grace, equanimity, serenity and peace while exploring the unhealthy seeds that have been watered (by others and self). It is beautifully written, worth holding onto and most certainly worth sharing.

About the Author

I was a library brat. My first Library was run by British pensioners; wrinkle faced expatriate grandmothers who made my membership seem a sacred rite, each step dutifully performed in hushed whispers and fleeting smiles. To this day, I have never met a pensioner i couldn't sneak a smile out of and I have met a few battle axes believe me. My mother is also a voracious reader, so our home growing up was either church mouse quiet with every one reading or riotous with song and dance with everyone sharing.
I discovered in words a tireless magic. They have the power to create weightless-tranquil spaces that capture the intangible, the haunting; in their purest form they prove the unknowable, the uniquely personal and make it universal. Moments in sport have also given me similar timeless spaces; a sudden stillness, a breathless slow motion of everything around me - an opportunity to do or learn something magical and heroic. Silent words and poetry are the lips through which my soul shares a smile.

Chaim Bentorah received his B.A. from Moody Bible Institute in Jewish Studies and his M.A. from the Denver Seminary in Old Testament and Hebrew. I agree with another reviewer: The ideas in this book greatly exceeded my expectations. The author's loving devotion to God is palpable and was conveyed to me as a reader. Also, I learned some spiritual techniques that I had never absorbed before, like simply embracing the Presence of God in silence, as a lover embraces his beloved with no words that need to be spoken between them. I was also intrigued by the fact that the author can take a Bible passage and delve into the root of a key Hebrew word in that passage to express a more nuanced meaning. He sometimes even takes the Hebrew word and comments on the meaning of each letter, and how the meaning of each letter builds the concept of the word. Some readers may know all about this, but I have never seen it done before. In summary: I was touched by the personal sharing in this book and would highly recommend it to a contemplative reader.

Uses Hebrew words in parts of this book

To get the real meaning of the scriptures in the book of Hebrews, some words in the bible have been translated a bit too much and lost the real meaning, so this book takes some of that and uses the Hebrew words and tries to give a real translation, which is tough since not all words have exact translations so this is great, its kind of a daily study too.. I need to pick it up again, but can say for sure its awesome.

This book helped me remember the times I was blessed to hear God's heart for someone joining in prayer f o r them. There is a price to pay, taking time to be still to hear what is on his heart. Chris LeDoux: Awesome Read

Chris was one of a kind. I had the good fortune to interview him for an article I wrote 20 years ago. He was so gracious and full of life. Being a working cowboy myself, we hit it off and remained friends. He was not only a great singer, great cowboy, and a great family man, but a great person, humble yet confident and gracious to anyone he ever met. Mr. Brown does a phenomenal job in presenting Chris LeDoux as he truly was. The writing is exceptional and at many times, one feels like they are actually there sharing the moment. Up and coming rodeo fellas will be inspired. This is a book for anyone interested in learning more about a really good human being. ~R. Justin Case

The Best Rodeo Biography on the Market

This is by far the finest rodeo related true story I've ever read. The writing is clear, concise, and to the point. Equally important, Chris LeDoux and the author pull no punches when it comes to saying it like it is. Triumph? Sure, but they included a few embarrassing parts, too, the times when Chris realized his ignorance was costing him during his "learning curve" early years in the sport. Example: Spend the time and money to fly all the way to California from a rodeo in Florida, only to find out the hard way that the bronc he'd drawn in the Golden State was a runaway waste of an entry fee? No problem; the reader gets to learn about that, including the part about the veteran cowboy who laughed at Chris's foolishness before he even got on the plane.

Such things are important for a biography to contain real red meat...and there is plenty of red meat between the covers of this book..

Those who have never paid the high price required to chase the gold buckle are sometimes stunned to realize just what it does take to become a World Champion in any rough stock rodeo event. During my contesting years (which predate Chris), it was not uncommon for the elite "wolves" of the sport to compete in more than 200 rodeos and cover more than 200,000 miles (in the air and over the highways) in a single calendar year. Gold Buckle Dreams does not identify the effort in those specific terms, but it's clear to any reader that only those who survive the crucible become the best in the business. As Chris makes clear, it's also about rodeoing "...smarter, not harder". Add to that the fact that bareback bronc riding is the most "jolting" event of all, and it's not something many of us are built to handle, either physically or psychologically.

Throw in the love of his life, the endless struggle to make a living both during and after his active rodeo years until the first Garth Brooks single mentioned "...an old tape by Chris Ledoux" and made all country music lovers aware of the musician we in rodeo already appreciated. Mix well with Chris's later health struggles, stir in plenty of humor and grace, and...yeah. This book definitely deserves a five star rating. I'd give it ten stars if they were available.

Most of all, if you're a reader who knows absolutely nothing about rodeo but would like to learn a bit, Gold Buckle Dreams is the one to read. You'll learn plenty...and if your heart is not touched by the end of the tale, you're not human.

Bought this book when it first came out and was thrilled to find it for my kindle. Now not only do I have his music to listen to, but also the story of his life....could it get any better? I don't thinks so.
